Margaret Rose Caro has spent her life painting, drawing, making house plans, and writing stories. Primarily a portrait maker of anything with a heart, her mediums are oil and conté crayon. She is also a writer. And the power of both listening and seeing results in fluid, perceptive work that captures movement and essence.
She is currently writing and illustrating essays about family and friends. As a freelance hospitality writer, she covers food and beverage and hotel design. Former titles include managing editor of Lodging magazine, editor-in-chief of Hotel F&B magazine, and contributing writer to Hospitality Design. She is currently editor of Hotel F&B’s Modern Fine Dining section and edits and designs books, including memoirs and cookbooks.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, she received a BFA in art from West Virginia University and also studied at the Art Institute of Boston. Burnt sienna pigment, sweet tea, Paris, and her mini goldendoodle Nina are some of her favorite things. Caro’s studios are in Edgewater, Maryland and Washington, DC.
